Text Boxes At an Angle?

Hello hello. I was creating a banner last night for the Poetry Friending Meme I'm hosting over at [personal profile] jjhunter & was struggling mightily in terms of displaying text boxes (and the text inside) at an angle. What I ended up with is skewed text for the words 'poetry' and 'meme' using the 'Shear' tool:

Is there any way simply to rotate a text at an angle without skewing it?

ETA: Second take.

ETA2: apologies for excessive linking on the earlier version of this post - thank you to [personal profile] jana for the reminder about comm rules re: advertising without permission. And thank you everyone else for the assistance -- I'm much happier with the modified image.

Rotate the layer that the text is in, perhaps?

There's a "rotate" tool. It's the one that has two boxes, one of them tilted, and two curved arrows around them. Or you can go to tools-transform tools-rotate in the menus up top. You should be able to use that to rotate the text, although using that tool will convert the text layer to an image layer (so that you can no longer edit the text by typing.)

I'm glad other users could help you with your gimp-related problem! :) But could you please place the second image behind a cut to spare other users' reading page? Both images seem also to display the same image now which makes it a bit difficult for others to understand what the problem was to begin with.

Also, this makes it look a bit like an attempt to promote your friending meme to a larger number of users which is against community rules (i.e., No advertising without permission). I'm aware that we're in a gray area here, but it would have been enough to just mention it in the beginning, and anyone who wanted to know more could simply go over to your personal journal and take a look. Linking to it five times is a bit much, don't you think? ;)
