A quick reply to your question: Inkscape is an open source vector graphics editor application, similar to Adobe Illustrator; it's been added to the community based on people's choice/interest. You can read more about the decision in an earlier entry. Oh, and by the way, lurkers get love and an open ear here, too ;)
