Don't know what to do at the moment? Lacking any inspiration? Then try your hand at making your very own Paper Wilber! You can dowload the template here. Cats seem to like Wilber too, so if you're not sure what to do with Paper Wilber, maybe your cat does... :)

In other news:

An upcoming feature in Photoshop is the "Content-Aware Fill", but GIMP users can already do this with the Resynthesizer plugin by Paul Harrison, which is explained more here with a few examples. The plugin allows you, among other things, to remove objects from images.

I've created a new community - [community profile] iconfinder - for people who like me could need some help in finding specific (themed) icons. Relevance for [community profile] gimp_gate? Um, people's search requests can be a great source of inspiration for all you icon makers/gimp users out there when you have no idea what your next batch of icons should feature... ;)

I've just posted this tutorial on my DW account http://alex-beecroft.dreamwidth.org/120558.html
It assumes a sort of intermediate level of knowledge with the Gimp already, but I thought I would share it here in case anyone found it interesting.

I'm very glad to have been directed here by [personal profile] darkemeralds and am off to check out the other tutorials straight away.  Thanks!

In case you haven't heard yet, [personal profile] erda is running Three Weeks for Dreamwidh in celebration of Dreamwitdh's one-year anniversary (the start date for the fest is planned to be Monday, April 26). The idea is that participants post content specifically produced for the fest only on DW - for three weeks from the posting date. After that time you can post it wherever you want (and, yes, you can continue posting your regular content as you like). If you have any questions or suggestions regarding the fest, please comment on [personal profile] erda's entry.

So, let's celebrate this together! I'll participate, too :) And speaking of creating content, here is a great collection of (gimp) brushes to look for inspiration...

This tutorial is aimed at Gimp novices. It is my first tutorial, un-betaed, and I welcome feedback!

The font I'm using is Amadeus, but you can choose any font you like. (For Ubuntu font newbies = me 2 weeks ago: Installing fonts in Ubuntu.)

I'm not a Gimp expert, but I'm happy to help if I can: ask if you get stuck or have questions :o)
