Looking for tutorial(s)

Does anyone here know where one could find a tutorial about making your own ink splatter brushes? I know how to make brushes in GIMP, but I don't know how to get this nice splatter effect... I'd like to experiment a bit with this. Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated!

I scanned an ink splatter texture for this purpose, but I created the splatter the old fashioned way, i.e. with toothbrush & ink on paper. So that doesn't help if you want to do it all digital.

I gotta admit, scanning a 'real' splatter didn't even cross my mind... I'll definitely try this. Bu I'd also like to learn how to do it all digital at one point :)
